ACTION MATTERS. But sometimes its the action that we take on the inside that produces the greatest impact outside.
SIT for Change means setting aside 108 minutes for some kind of inner change: an activity, practice or event that focuses attention on what’s going on inside you.
Some popular examples include: meditation, yoga, tai chi, sitting in circle, centering prayer, quiet sit-ins and more. But there are many more ways to SIT for Change and you’ll find the one that is right for you. What matters is that change happens INSIDE you just from taking that focused time. This leads to change in the way you relate to others: outer change. When we do this together, as organizations and communities, it leads to social change.
The SIT for Change national event on September 18th is just one step towards, as Gandhi said, “BEING the change we wish to see.”
Locally or virtually, you can SIT for Change at a local event, in the Bay Area, alone, or with others from wherever you are.
Four Ways to Participate in SIT for Change:
INDIVIDUAL:

Be an Inspiration. Sign up as an individual sitter and prove that one person can make a difference. changeAGENTS pledge to raise $108 or more.
changeMAKER
Be Dedicated. Commit to sitting knee-to-knee for 108 minutes at our local event, or sit virtually from wherever you are. changeMAKERS pledge to raise $324 or more.
worldCHANGERS
Be the Change. Commit to sit and to be the Change you wish to see in the world. worldCHANGERS pledge to raise $540 or more.

Be a Team. Find 10 folks and band together as a changeTEAM. Enlist friends, family, colleagues, and community--or create a team of photographers, Sunday school teachers, or bungee jumpers from your area! Each team member pledges to raise a minimum of $108.

Organizations can be the change, too. Host a 108 minute inner change event in your own space, send people to events happening in other places like our Berkeley anchor event, or have people SIT for Change virtually. Either way, you get to RAISE FUNDS for your organization as part of our nationwide effort for change.

Once you sign up, you’ll be able to setup your own SIT for Change page to invite your family, friends, colleagues and communities to support your 108 minutes of change from wherever they are.
